Filarr keeps your files and your notes in one place, and encrypts them on your device. It works on its own, on your computer, without an account. If you want more, a Filarr account syncs everything between your computers and your browser, still encrypted.
Filarr runs as a desktop app on Windows and Linux, and as a web app at app.filarr.com.
What you can do with Filarr
- Keep your files in order. Add documents, photos, videos and more, sort them into folders, and open them without leaving Filarr: PDF, images, video, audio, emails, archives and many other formats.
- Write notes that connect. Write rich notes, link them to each other and to your files, and see how everything fits together in the graph view.
- Find anything again. One search box looks through file names, notes and the text inside your documents.
- Sync and share, if you want to. With an account, find the same files on your other computers and in the browser, share a file by link, or work with other people in a shared vault.
Your data stays yours
Filarr encrypts your files and notes on your device before storing them. Your password protects the encryption key, and Filarr does not keep a copy of that key.
You choose where your data lives:
- A local profile keeps everything on this computer. No account, and it is free.
- A cloud account adds sync between your devices and the web app. Filarr's servers receive your data already encrypted.

Where to start
- Install Filarr on Windows or Linux, or open the web app in your browser.
- Read Local profile or cloud account? to choose how you want to work.
- Follow Set up Filarr the first time: the setup wizard, screen by screen.
- Take a look at Find your way around to learn what each part of the screen does.
- Spend your first ten minutes adding files, writing a note and searching.

A few conventions help you read the articles:
- Buttons, menus and other screen labels appear in bold, exactly as on screen, and arrows show a path: Settings → Security.
- When something only works in the desktop app or only in the web app, a note says so.
- Screenshots show the app in English.
