Views: list, mosaic, kanban and more
Show your notes as a list, a mosaic of cards, a kanban, a board of sticky notes, a table or a calendar, and turn the open note into a mind map.

The same notes can be read in several ways. The list is best for writing. A mosaic helps you browse, a kanban follows work in progress, a table compares, a calendar shows when things happened. Switching view changes nothing in your notes.
Switch view
The bar at the top of the notes page, Show notes as, offers List, Mosaic, Kanban, Sticky notes, Details, Calendar and Graph. On a narrow window, it becomes a drop-down list.
Mosaic, Kanban and Sticky notes show the notes of the notebook open in the list, and follow its search. Details and Calendar always show all your notes.
On the right of the bar, This note acts on the open note:
- in another view than List, the pill with its title brings you back to it;
- Mind map draws it as a map of its headings (below);
- Focus, in the List view, hides what surrounds the text, see Write in comfort.
The graph has its own article: The graph view.
List
The default view: the list of notes on the left, the note in the middle, the right panel with the calendar, the outline and the links. See Organize your notes.
Mosaic
Your notes as a grid of cards, with the title, the first lines, the date, the number of words and of links.
- Sort orders the cards by Updated, Created, Title, Word count or Links. The arrow next to it switches between ascending and descending.
- Notebook and Tag show only one notebook or one tag.
- Hide pinned takes the pinned notes out of the grid.
Click a card to open the note.
Kanban
Your notes as cards in columns, to follow where each one stands. Four columns come ready: Inbox, In progress, Review and Done. A note you have not placed yet shows in the first one.
- Drag a card to another column, or up and down to change its place.
- Add a card at the bottom of a column (Add a note to this column) creates a note there. Type its title, then press
Enter. - Double-click the title of a card to rename the note.
- Add Column adds a column. The × next to a column name deletes the column, with no confirmation: its notes go back to the first column. A column cannot be renamed.
- Swimlanes splits the board into rows: None, Notebook, First tag or Pinned. Each row folds.
The column of each note is saved with the note. The list of columns, their names and the swimlanes are kept on this device, for this profile.
Sticky notes
A free board where each note is a sticky note that you place where you want. The Board entry of the sidebar opens the same board on a page of its own, with all your notes.
- Double-click the background, or click New note, to create a note.
- Drag a sticky note to move it. Drag its corner (Resize) to change its size.
- Draw a rectangle on the background to select several notes, then drag them together.
Deleteasks Move the selection to the trash? - Tidy lines up the selection on a grid, or the whole board if nothing is selected, after a confirmation. It moves the notes, never their content.
- Fit all shows every note at once. Map shows or hides the small map in the corner.
- The mouse wheel scrolls,
Shift+wheel scrolls sideways,Ctrl+wheel zooms.
Details
All your notes in a table, one row per note: Title, Notebook, Tags, Modified, Created, Words, Pinned and Links.
- Type in Filter… to keep only the matching rows.
- Click a column title to sort by it.
- Filter adds a condition on a column (contains, equals, is empty, is not empty).
- Properties shows or hides columns.
- The buttons at the top right switch between Table view and Columns by notebook.
This table lists your notes. To build your own tables inside a note, see Databases inside your notes.
Calendar
Your notes on a calendar. A daily note sits on its day. Another note sits on the day it was created, or on the day you moved it to.
- Month, Week, Day and Agenda change the span. Today and the arrows move through time.
- Drag a note onto another day to move it there.
- Click a day to see Notes of the day and the notes Edited that day, with Open the daily note or Create the daily note.
Mind map
Open a note, then click Mind map in This note. Filarr draws the note as a map: its title in the middle, its headings as branches.
- Click a branch to go to that heading in the note.
- The buttons in the top right corner zoom in, zoom out and fit the map to the window.
- When the map has sub-branches, Collapse and Expand, next to the legend in the bottom left corner, fold or unfold every branch.
The map uses headings of level 1 to 4, including those inside callouts and columns. A note with no heading has nothing to draw: add a few headings first.
