The Folders page

See all your folders at once in a tree, in columns or as a map of used space, with quick filters and a details panel for each folder.

The Folders page shows all your folders in one place: what each one holds, how much space it takes and when it last changed. It is also where you see what fills your storage.

To open it:

  • click Folders in the sidebar, just under Home, or the Folders heading above the folder tree;
  • click See what takes up space at the bottom of the sidebar: the page opens on the space map;
  • or type "Folders" in the command palette (Ctrl+P).

At the top of the page, three buttons switch between the views: Tree, Columns and Space. Find a folder and New folder are there in every view.

The tree

The tree lists your folders with their subfolders, which you unfold with the arrow in front of each name. For each folder you see:

  • Contents: the number of files and subfolders;
  • Size, with a bar to compare folders at a glance. It includes subfolders;
  • Activity: the last change inside;
  • Sync: whether the folder is up to date in the cloud, with a cloud account.

Drag a folder onto another to move it there. Ctrl+click picks several folders at once.

When files are waiting to be put away, a last line says so ("6 files waiting to be tidied"). Click it to open To tidy.

Quick filters

The buttons under the title narrow the list:

  • All;
  • This week: folders changed in the last seven days;
  • Shared vaults;
  • Locked: folders protected by a password;
  • Dormant: folders not changed or opened for more than six months;
  • Empty;
  • To tidy, with the number of suggestions: it opens the To tidy page.

All and This week are always there. The other filters only show up when they have something to show. The number next to each filter tells you how many folders it keeps.

The details panel

Click a folder: its details appear on the right.

  • Open folder opens it, Move sends it elsewhere, and the More actions button (three dots) offers Move to trash.
  • Files, Subfolders, Size and Created sum it up.
  • What it holds shows the share of documents, images, audio, videos and other files.
  • Recently changed lists the latest files touched inside.

A reminder set on the folder, or notes filed in it, also show up here. At the bottom, a line tells you whether the folder is encrypted on this device only or synced across your devices.

Columns

The Columns view lets you browse without leaving the page. Each click on a folder opens a new column to its right, with its subfolders and files. Use the and keys to move between columns, and Space to preview the selected file.

Space

The Space view draws your folders as blocks. Each block is as big as what it takes up, subfolders included.

  • Measure by switches between Size and Number of files.
  • Click a block to go into it. Alt+click goes back up one level.
  • The panel on the right, Where your space goes, shows the space used and, when your plan has a limit, how much is left.
  • Under To free up space, Filarr points to what you could reclaim: duplicate copies (Compare), what the trash still keeps (Open the trash) and folders asleep for a long time (Review).

Shared vaults count toward their owner's space, not in this map.
