A daily note is a page for today: what you plan, what happened, what you think about. Filarr creates one per day, names it after the date, and brings along the tasks you did not finish yesterday. Weekly, monthly and quarterly notes work the same way for longer periods.
Open today's note
Press Ctrl+Shift+D, or click the calendar button (Daily Note) at the top of the list of notes.
The first time in the day, Filarr creates the note. Its title is the full date, for example "Thursday, September 24, 2026", and its icon is a calendar. The next times, the same shortcut opens the same note.
Write in it like in any note: tasks, links, headings. See Tasks and Link your notes.
Unfinished tasks follow you
When Ctrl+Shift+D or the Daily Note button creates today's note, Filarr looks at your last daily note. The tasks you did not tick there are copied into today's note, under a Carried Over heading. The previous note stays as it was.
Open another day
The calendar at the top of the right panel shows the month. A dot marks the days that have a daily note.
- Click a day to open its daily note. If there is none yet, Filarr creates it for that day.
- The arrows change month (Previous month, Next month), and Go to today brings you back.
A note created from the calendar starts empty, even for today: only Ctrl+Shift+D and the Daily Note button bring the unfinished tasks along.
The Calendar view shows every note on its date, month by month: see Views: list, mosaic, kanban and more. Clicking a day there offers Open the daily note or Create the daily note.
Weekly, monthly and quarterly notes
Under the calendar, three tabs give you a note per period: Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly.
- Click the tab you want.
- Under Current, check the name of the period: "Week 39, 2026 (Sep 21 - Sep 27)", "September 2026" or "Q3 2026", for example.
- Click + Create.
Filarr creates a note with that title and opens it. Once it exists, the button becomes Open. Recent lists your last notes of that kind.
