The Notion alternative, end-to-end encrypted

Short answer

Filarr is a Notion alternative that encrypts your pages, databases and files on your device before syncing them: our servers only store data they cannot read. You keep the block editor and databases, real-time co-editing on paid plans, and you can import your Notion export. Free with 5 GB of sync, paid plans from €4 a month.

Checked

Notion encrypts your pages on its servers, but keeps the keys that decrypt them. Filarr encrypts everything on your device, before upload. A block editor and databases like in Notion, without handing your notes to anyone in readable form.

What you keep from Notion

  • A block editor

Headings, task lists, tables, callouts, toggles, sub-pages, templates and links between pages. Type “/” to insert anything.

  • Databases

Real databases inside the page, with properties, relations and several views: table, kanban, calendar, gallery, timeline.

  • Working together

Shared vaults with roles (admin, editor, viewer), comments, and real-time co-editing, from the Solo plan.

All synced across your devices: in the browser, and as an app for Windows, Linux, and Android.

What Filarr adds

  • End-to-end encryption

Notion encrypts your pages on its servers and keeps the keys. Filarr encrypts every note and every file on your device, each with its own key, before upload.

  • Your files next to your notes

PDFs, images, video, audio: more than 80 formats open right inside Filarr, organized in folders, like in Google Drive.

  • Offline, even without an account

On a computer, your personal notes keep working without a connection and sync when the network is back. You can also start without an account.

  • A graph and a canvas

A map of the links between your notes and files, and a whiteboard to lay out your ideas.

Frequently asked questions

Is Notion end-to-end encrypted?

No. Notion encrypts your data at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS), but it holds the keys that decrypt it. With Filarr, encryption happens on your device, before upload: our servers only store data they cannot read.

Is Filarr free?

Yes. Notes, files, graph, canvas and encryption are free, with 5 GB of sync, no time limit and no credit card. Paid plans, from €4 a month, add space, shared vaults and co-editing.

Can I import my Notion pages?

Yes, from the desktop app (Windows and Linux). Export your Notion workspace as Markdown & CSV, then import the ZIP file: pages, sub-pages, databases and images (up to 8 MB each) come into Filarr. Your Notion workspace stays as it is.

Can several people work together, like in Notion?

Yes, from the Solo plan: shared vaults with roles, comments and real-time co-editing, unreadable by our servers. For a whole team, the Teams plan adds member management and per-seat billing.

What about Mac or iPhone?

The Mac app is coming soon, with no firm date yet. There is no iPhone app and no announced date. On both, the web app opens in the browser, with nothing to install.
