How encrypted sending works
1 · In your browser
Your files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before anything is sent.
2 · The link
The key sits after the # of the link. The browser never transmits that part: our servers only receive ciphertext.
3 · On the recipient’s side
They open the link, and the files decrypt in their browser. No account, nothing to install.

Expiry and downloads
From 1 hour to 7 days without an account, and up to 10 downloads. An account raises these ceilings, see the table below.
Burn after reading
Set downloads to 1: the encrypted file is deleted as soon as it is downloaded once.
A password on top of the link
Derived with Argon2id in the recipient’s browser and combined with the link key: one without the other is not enough.
Preview only
The recipient views the file on screen, with no download button. A request, not a lock.
Revocation without an account
A manage token kept in this browser is enough: the encrypted file is wiped from our servers.
QR code, email, native share
Hand the link to a phone, send it from your mail client or the system share sheet.

A file request gives your client a deposit link. They drop their documents without an account, encrypted in their browser, and only you can open them. Up to 2 GB in total per request.

Volume is a total: all your files online, across all your links, never a per-file size. The server enforces these ceilings at upload time.
Frequently asked questions
Can your servers read my files?
No. Encryption happens in your browser, and the key never reaches us: it stays in the part of the link after the #. We can delete a reported file, never read it.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. They open the link in their browser, and that is it. They can even view the file without downloading it.
What is the maximum size?
4 GB in total without an account: all your files online, across all your links. An account raises that total with your plan: 20 GB on Solo, 50 GB on Pro. A single link can carry up to 100 files.
Can I send several files at once?
Yes, up to 100 files in one link, 4 GB in total without an account. The recipient’s browser opens them with nothing to install; a Filarr app that is not up to date may refuse a multi-file send.
What if I lose the link?
Without an account, the key only exists in the URL: find it in the “My links on this device” list of this browser, otherwise send the file again. Signed in, your dashboard rebuilds the secret link on all your devices.
Why a password if the key is already in the URL?
To protect against an intercepted link. The password, shared through another channel, is derived with Argon2id on the recipient side and combined with the URL key: one without the other is not enough.
