Documentation sections
The Tasks page gathers the tasks of all your notes in one place. Open it with Tasks in the sidebar, or type "Tasks" in the command palette (Ctrl+P). Under the title, Filarr counts your open tasks, and those overdue or due today.
Tasks stay in their notes: whatever you change here, Filarr writes it in the note. To learn how a task is made, see Tasks.
The tabs
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| My tasks | Your tasks and the ones assigned to you. Tasks you assigned to someone else are not here. |
| Notebooks | All tasks, grouped by notebook. No notebook comes last. |
| Notes | All tasks, grouped by note. |
| Today | All tasks, arranged by when they are due: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, Next 7 days, Later, No due date. |
| Assigned | All tasks, grouped by person: Assigned to me, one group per person, then Unassigned. |
A task from a shared vault only shows in My tasks and Today when it is assigned to you. The other tabs show it like any other task. Without a cloud account, there is no one to assign, so the Assigned tab does not show.
List, board or calendar
Three buttons at the top right change the display: List, Board and Calendar. Filarr remembers your choice.
List
The groups follow the tab. Click a group header to fold it. A few groups have their own button:
- on the Today tab, Overdue offers Reschedule all to today, and Done, when completed tasks are shown, offers to delete them all;
- on the Notes tab, each note has a button to add a task to it.
Board
The columns depend on the tab:
- My tasks: one column per stage, To do, In progress, Waiting and Done;
- Today: one column per day, Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, the next five days by name, then Later and No due date;
- Notebooks, Notes and Assigned: one column per notebook, note or person.
Drag a card to another column to change the task: its stage, its due date, its note or its assignee. Dropping a card on Done checks it. On the Notebooks tab, a card cannot be dropped on another column: a task only changes notebook with its note. A task from a shared vault never leaves its note. The + at the top of most columns adds a task straight into that column.
Calendar
Switch between Month and Week with the buttons above the grid, and move with the arrows or Today. A task with a date sits on its day. In Week, a task with a time sits at its hour, and its duration sets the size of its block; the others go in the All day row.
The No date tray on the right lists the tasks without a date. Drag a task onto a day to schedule it, or drop one in the tray to remove its date. To add a task on a day, click the + of that day or double-click it.
Add a task in plain words
- In List or Board, click New task, or press
nanywhere on the page outside a text field. In Calendar, use the + of a day instead. - Type the task with its date, time and priority in plain words, for example
Send the Lumen invoice reminder friday 10am !high. - Check the chips that appear under the field. Typed on a Thursday, this example gives Date Tomorrow, Time 10:00 and Priority High priority. If a word was misread, click the × of its chip: the words stay in the title, as typed.
- If needed, choose another note in the menu on the right, then press
Enteror click Add.
By default, the task goes into a note called Things to do, which Filarr creates the first time. To use another note, open the More options menu (the three dots) and choose Default task note…. This choice is kept on this device. The notes of a shared vault are not offered here. On the Today tab, a task typed without a date is due today.
Here is what the field understands:
| To set | Type |
|---|---|
| A date | today, tonight, tomorrow, day after tomorrow, in 3 days, in 2 weeks, next week, next month, friday, next friday, Sep 30, 9/30 (month, then day), 2026-09-30 |
| A time | 3pm, 10:30am, 15:30, noon |
| A priority | !high or !!!, !medium or !!, !low |
| A flag | !flag |
| A repeat | every day, every weekday, every monday, every week, every month, every year |
A #tag stays in the title.
Find, sort and filter
- Find tasks searches the titles and descriptions of tasks, the titles of their notes and the names of assignees.
- The sort button, which shows Relevance at first, also offers Title, Due date, Priority, Date created and Date updated. Relevance puts overdue tasks first, then sorts by due date, flag and priority.
- Filter narrows the list: Recurring, Flagged, Due date (Any date, Overdue, Due today, Due tomorrow, Next 7 days, No due date), Priority, Notebook and Tag. The Completed switch of the same panel adds the completed tasks to the list. Active filters show as chips under the bar. Clear filters removes them all.
- The More options menu shows or hides completed tasks: Show completed tasks, Hide completed tasks. They are hidden at first.
Open a task
Click the circle of a task to complete it. Click the rest of the row to open its details on the right:
- change its title, or double-click it in the list;
- add a Description;
- set the same options as in the note: due date, repeat, reminders, flag, priority, stage, assignee;
- see its Subtasks, with how many are done;
- Show in its note: Filarr opens the note at the task;
- Move to another note…;
- Skip this occurrence, for a repeating task: it moves to its next date without being completed;
- Delete task, after a confirmation.
For a task from a shared vault, the panel offers neither Move to another note… nor reminders.
