Slash commands

Type / anywhere in a note and a menu opens with every block the editor can insert. Keep typing to search, then press Enter. It is the fastest way to add a callout, a table or a sub-page without leaving the keyboard.

Use the menu

1. Type / in the text. It works at the start of a line and in the middle of one, and the menu opens below the line.
2. What you type after / shows in the field at the top of the menu. Type a few letters to search, or browse the seven families on the left: Write, List, Structure, Emphasize, Link, Data and Media.
3. The preview on the right shows the shape of the block you are pointing at.
4. Press Enter, or click the command.

The letters you type match the name of the command, its description and a few other words, without minding accents: with the interface in French, encadre finds Encadré. While you search, Best matches lists every command that matches, the best one first, so Enter lands on it.

Keys in the menu:

• ↑ and ↓ move through the commands;
• ← and → change family while you are not searching, and Tab or Shift+Tab change it at any time;
• Enter inserts the command;
• Esc closes the menu.

Recently used keeps the last commands you used, at the top. If nothing matches, the menu says No matching commands. If a command cannot go where your cursor is, Filarr tells you This command is not available here and puts back what you typed.

Some commands are not listed in the families but are found by typing: the nine other callout tones (/tip, /warning…) and the text styles (/bold, /italic…), which the selection toolbar also applies.

The tables below list every command. The last column gives other words that find it: some are French, and they work whatever your language.
